How it works

As a TNVR organization, Stray to Spay encounters friendly cats and kittens. We partner with other adoption rescues in the area to help get these cats into loving homes. We also have our own adoption program to further reduce the community cat population in Omaha.

All cats are spayed/neutered, microchipped, receive age-appropriate vaccinations, and are tested for FELV/FIV. They are also treated for common parasites upon intake. Copies of all vaccines, testing, and spay/neuter documentation will be provided to you once the adoption is finalized. Cats and kittens must be 3 months or older to be officially adopted. We will pre-adopt kittens that are at 2.5 months old (10 weeks), but they must remain with their foster through spay/neuter surgery and an additional week before the adoption can be finalized.

We take adoption seriously at Stray to Spay. Adopters are making a lifelong commitment to care for their new family member. Please note that we do our best to match the right cat/kitten with approved adopters; completing an application does not guarantee you will be approved for a specific kitten or cat. All potential adopters must submit the adoption application for the specific cat or kitten they are interested in, or the generic application to get preapproved. Our team screens every application and will reach out with any questions or concerns. Once the application is approved, we will set up times for you to meet the cat(s) you are interested in. Once you finalize your choice, you can pay the adoption fee and sign our adoption agreement.

Adoption fees are generally $150 for cats and kittens unless specified otherwise. If you decide to adopt more than one, we will apply a 20% discount if you choose to adopt multiple cats at the same time. We highly encourage adopting two kittens at the same time as this will reduce naughty kitten behavior and prevent single kitten syndrome.
